When I think of this specific trip Jessica and I took, a summarizing word would be compromise…. With this said, Marriage cannot thrive without Proverbs 3:5 NLT
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding”, In play. I say compromise because that is exactly what Jessica and I did. After being first on scene at a Motorcycle Accident, we talked and decided that our original plan didn’t feel right this time around… We decided to compromise! Our new plan was to backpack the Black Forest of Arizona! With this said, let me describe to you this Incredible land and wild.

The top of the Badlands became home… The delicate environment teaches us about vulnerability. The colors of the land show us a way of being that is not scared of being oneself, unique, and nothing else. Jessica and I walked down from the Trailhead… We parked overlooking the Black Forest. Everything seems so within reach yet so far away. An illusion that looking down tends to have on some landscapes.

The Badlands stand like a family, undivided by the trials of life. As land and animals teach humanity what submission to God’s laws and order truly looks like. The air here felt calm… As we found our perch, the moment stood still, the land holding its breath for the sunset to appear. All of nature was in harmony.

The night moved forward, and the sun fell… All the land beneath our feet tells stories of a harmony. Of water and land, the rain comes, and the rock, dirt, and plants begin a pilgrimage of faith. One step after another here… I find a compromise.
