This blog takes us on two separate adventures and trips Jessica and I took. Since our move to the East Coast life has been busy and Marriage means less frequent outings. When we get the opportunity, we have to make it count! One adventure I will cover in this blog will be the day hiking of Kennedy Peak in George Washington and Jefferson National Forest. As well as a primitive camping trip we took to Shenandoah River State Park. In the fall Jessica and I camped at Fort Valley Ranch Campground. We got in after dark and quickly called it a night after a long work week. This specific occasion we car camped in our Jeep Cherokee.

The next morning we ate breakfast and packed our bags for the summit of Kennedy Peak. A Mountain Summit that overlooks Virginia’s Page Valley.
To our dismay, we did not have the trail to ourselves, but nonetheless. The views were amazing! The pair of us enjoyed views across the valley to Shenandoah National Park and views of the Shenandoah River.

Once back at the Trail Head, we met some folks who were looking for some car keys. Somehow I managed to find them before we drove back to camp. Jess and I made our way to camp and purchased some firewood. We started a campfire and began preparing dinner! The next day, we woke up and headed home but not before getting a shower at a Loves Travel Stop and some grub as well.

Fast-forward a few months after Jessica and I headed to Shenandoah River State Park which also sits in Virginia’s Page Valley. We arrived just before sunset and walked in our gear. This was not quite a backpacking trip but it was considered to be Primitive Camping. Although a bit of a rushed trip, it was peaceful nonetheless and we had the Campground to ourselves along with a site directly on the Shenandoah River! After setting up camp we made dinner with our Jetbpil. Tonight’s delicacy was from Pinnacle Foods Company out of Missoula Montana. We have collectively had a good amount of Backpacking meals and this company has quickly become one of our favorites! I had the Herb Roasted Chicken and White Cheddar Biscuit Dumplings and Jess had the Jambalaya with Blackened Chicken, Cajun Sausage, Rice, and Bell Peppers. We both have really enjoyed the Herb Roasted Chicken before and I did not feel like being too experimental this evening. After we ate and unwound from the drive we began a Campfire. One that would last several hours and into the night.
